The Majnoun and the Wind

After its controversial release in 1976, all the negatives of the Iranian cinema masterpiece Chess of the Wind are lost for more than 40 years.
The random discovery of an original copy by the family in a flea market brings a new chance for the film. Restored by the Cineteca Di Bologna in 2020 the film knows a renaissance.
In this documentary, the director’s daughter Gita Aslani Shahrestani puts together the most part of the film’s crew to give the keys for understanding the film and analyze 46 years of silence. From the genesis of the project to the discovery, the team look back at a formidable artistic adventure through numerous testimonies.
